London, England. May 2005
SmartNumbers is pleased to announce that James Gardiner has joined the company as Director of Marketing Communications. James comes to SmartNumbers with several significant accomplishments under his belt. His first was as European Product Manager for WordStar, the first and market-leading word-processing software. In addition to standard Product Management functions, James' role was one of evangelism, helping businesses to adopt to the new opportunities that personal word-processing enabled. He went from Wordstar to head up corporate communications at what was then a small startup 'Demon Internet' and helped grow the business to over 560 staff during his 4-year tenure. Demon was the first and became the largest ISP in the UK during this time, and as head of communications James effectively become the 'Voice of the Internet' in the UK.
His success at Demon lead James to co-found Redbus Venture Capital, where he lead the marketing activities for many of their investments, including Redbus Interhouse and Redbus Film Distribution. James joined SmartNumbers from Inclarity, one of the pioneers in VoIP services, where he headed up corporate communications and spear-headed their positioning around converged services.
"We are delighted that SmartNumbers is able to attract people with the calibre and experience of James", said Geoffrey Paterson, CEO of SmartNumbers. "His successes in corporate communication at both a technology and a business-solutions level will be invaluable to SmartNumbers as we take our customers down the convergence path. We welcome James to the team."
"SmartNumbers presents a compelling opportunity for both customers and suppliers to adopt these Converged Services and thereby begin to experience the benefits of 'frictionless communication' - both on todays networks, and as these networks evolve" said James Gardiner. "I am pleased to join the company that is leading the market for Converged Services".
